Taking you higher with the new rotating amusement park rideThe challenge
Amusement park ride manufacturer Gerstlauer Amusement Rides asked Abele Ingenieure to closely collaborate with them to develop a concept for a new rotating amusement park ride. The client’s specifications were demanding: to give passengers a completely new thrill, with movements that were new and different, as well as the option for passengers to control the ride themselves. What’s more, the client wanted a ride suitable both for stationary and mobile use. And finally, the new amusement park attraction was required to meet the highest safety standards – of course.
Our solution
The Abele Ingenieure team was responsible for the entire development process of the new Sky Roller ride and our Abele think tank came up with a unique highlight: To allow each passenger of the Sky Roller to operate small wing panels on their bucket seats to set off rotations and loop-the-loops themselves. Amongst others, our tasks included carrying out the static pre-dimensioning, the steel construction of the mast and the development of the mechanical drive and control systems as well as the hoisting system and safety engineering. The remit also included the drafting of all the individual components and assemblies.
