During the European Football Championship 2024, part of the Abele Ingenieure team organised an exciting betting game. In addition to the sporting competition and the fun of it all, there is some particularly good news to announce: For each of the 22 participants in our European Championship prediction game, we bought a tree from FC Augsburg for the so-called FCA forest. This means that twenty-two trees sponsored by us will be planted in the FCA's next tree-planting campaign.
The FCA forest is a joint project of the FCA family and the Augsburg forestry administration, which was launched in 2022. Not far from Augsburgs’ Football Arena, between the rivers Wertach and Singold, a climate-resilient mixed forest is being created – the FCA forest. The project is part of the reforestation initiative as part of the city's climate protection measures.
We see this initiative as a wonderful opportunity to promote sustainability and climate protection in our home region. We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the participants in our betting game who made this campaign possible in the first place.

EU-project BioStruct
The BioStruct project which the Abele Ingenieure are part of, aims to achieve several outcomes, such as increased productivity, ensuring consistently high quality in high-precision manufacturing, promoting strategic independence for the EU manufacturing industry, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. By concentrating on boat building and wind energy, the project directly targets 25 % of the market, and potential applications in sports equipment and automotive are anticipated to boost the share to 45%. With the projected growth of the bio-composites market, the consortium envisions a market potential of around € 100 million by 2030, leading to a significant reduction in greenhouse gases, estimated at 2.5 to 4.3 million tons of CO2 per year.
The BioStruct project brings together 10 European partners. To tackle the existing challenges linked to the utilization of biocomposites in structural components and expand the range of applications for bio-composites, the project has established precise objectives:
Developing an accurate draping process to control fiber orientation
Creating material models to capture natural variability
Integrating nano-structured bio-based sensors for load monitoring
BioStruct has a global budget of over 8 million euros. The consortium’s partners are based in seven countries (Austria, Cyprus, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain).
Co-funded by the European Union (Grant Agreement No 101136335)

Kick-Off for BioStruct
The BioStruct project, coordinated by Profactor, was launched on Tuesday, February 13th. Its main goal is to develop manufacturing processes to boost the use of bio-based fiber-reinforced composites for structural applications. Co-funded by Horizon Europe, the European Union’s research and innovation program, this public-private European partnership involves 10 organizations and will continue for three years.
The following organizations, both public and private, are pooling their scientific and industrial knowledge: Profactor, Abele Ingenieure, Amura, Bladeworks, CIDETEC, Enginsoft, IDEKO, Lumoscribe, NOMA, Techtera
Abele Ingenieure GmbH is celebrating its 50th anniversary and has come up with something very special for its employees. We have invited the entire staff on a trip.
First we are off to Europa-Park in Rust and from there on to Strasbourg. With wild rides, culture and culinary delights, we will refuel lots of energy for our customers and all new projects!
From 10-12 May 2023, our office will therefore not be occupied.

Visit us at automatica 2022
automatica is the leading exhibition for smart automation and robotics. The event brings together all key technologies at the international technology location of Munich. Trend themes of the trade fair 2022:
We are partner of DrapeBot - A European Project developing collaborative draping of carbon fiber parts.
Draping is a process used for about 30% of all carbon fibre composite parts to place layers of carbon fiber fabric in a mould. During this process the flat fabric distorts to fit to the shape of the mould. Ensuring the accuracy of draping in terms of position and fiber orientation while avoiding wrinkles is a challenging task. The DrapeBot project aims at human-robot collaborative draping. The robot is supposed to assist during the transport of the large material patches and to drape in areas of low curvature. The role of the human is to drape regions of high curvature. To enable an efficient collaboration, DrapeBot develops a gripper system with integrated instrumentation, low-level control structures, and AI-driven human perception and task planning models. All of these developments aim at a smooth and efficient interaction between the human and the robot. Specific emphasis is put on trust and usability, due to the complexity of the task and the sizes of involved robots. The DrapeBot project runs over a period of four years from January 2021 to December 2024.
This project is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement no. 101006732).

Our work continues...
Our mechanical design and production are currently continuing as usual. Effects on the delivery capabality are not to be expected at the moment, but also not excluded. Despite the spreading of COVID-19, the team of Abele Ingenieure is a reliable partner at your side! The worldwide spreading of COVID-19 / Corona is very dynamic and must be taken seriously.
Health and safety of our customers, employees and their families are our top priority and we are following the advices of the government with the utmost care to do our part to contain the spread.
We can still be reached by phone under +49 821 56000-0 or by e-mail under info@abele-ing.de, of course
Like all companies, we want to ensure the continued existence of our employees' jobs. Every order given to us during this period is a welcome sign of your trust, for which all employees of Abele Ingenieure GmbH thank you with all our heart!
We wish you strength, patience, and last but not least economic endurance for the limitations that we have to deal with in this difficult time. Together we will get through this period. We wish you all the best in your private and professional surroundings and a large portion of health.
For over 45 years, Abele Ingenieure has been active in the field of mechanical and plant engineering. Our main focus is on project planning, mechanical design and complete implementation of highly complex plant and mechanical engineering projects.
"In Scape Technologies we found a partner with whom we can strategically expand our product and service portfolio in a meaningful way", says David Abele, Managing Director of Abele Ingenieure GmbH. Only with a reliable partner we can meet the increasing demands of the rapidly growing process automation market.
Scape Technologies A/S, known as Scape - The Bin-Picking Company - is a Danish developer of automation solutions and software developer, as well as the most experienced manufacturer in the challenging field of bin-picking. Picking bulk material and randomly lying parts out of a box with a robot is Scape's core competence, which makes it the global leader in this area.
"We are looking forward to a successful cooperation that will enable us to further expand our market position", emphasizes David Abele.
The Abele Ingenieure running team will be part of the 9th Augsburg corporate run on 16 September 2020.
This year's corporate run will once again take place on a completely car-free, flat course through the districts of Univiertel, Göggingen and Haunstetten.
The runners will be accompanied by several music groups and thousands of spectators who will cheer on the runners.
We are particularly proud of participating in the corporate run this year for the sixth time in a row. Four runners always form a team. Each team decides for itself the speed in which it performs the 6.3 km long distance.
In addition to the runner groups, there are also walking groups, so that all employees of Abele Ingenieure are able to participate.
We are pleased to be accepted as a supporting member of the VDI - Verein Deutscher Ingenieure e.V.
For more than 160 years, the Association of German Engineers has been providing important impulses for new technologies and technical solutions, thus ensuring a better quality of life, a better environment and more prosperity. The VDI is the largest technical and scientific association in Germany, with around 145,000 members. As a spokesman for engineers and technology, it actively shapes the future. Every year, more than 12,000 volunteer experts work on the latest knowledge to promote our location of engineering. Being the third-largest technical rule-setter in Germany, the VDI is a partner for the German industry and science.
