The challenge

Since 2012, our Abele Ingenieure expert simulation team has been developing process models for complex production facilities at Audi Tooling Barcelona. Starting in January 2013, the team began carrying out simulations for a complete production line for the new Audi A4. In the initial phase, Abele engineers coordinated the project on location in Barcelona. The subsequent project stages where executed in Ingolstadt and Augsburg.

Our solution

The simulation project comprises four production facilities for the Audi A4: the bulkhead, side beams 1 and 2 as well as the front section sub-assembly. The vehicle model is subsequently manufactured in two different production halls. For this purpose, each hall is fitted with 170 robots for manufacturing the body in white. Abele Ingenieure is responsible for the simulation, optimisation and upload of offline programmes until the planned cycle time and specified quality is reached.
